| The lovely city of Budapest is a place that you cannot forget once you visit it. It's gorgeous architectural masterpieces still stand out and the streets make you feel like you are walking in a big museum.

That is an amazing collection of photos!I can't wait to go there! However I've done some digging around on the internet today and found some very worrying stories about tourists being robbed in certain Bars and Clubs. Now I know this kind of thing happens everywhere it just seems to be quite common? I intend to do as much as possible during my stay and this will include a few late nights having a few drinks with the locals. Could anyone please tell me where I can find a list of recommended bars and restaurants and which ones to stay away from? Thank you, looking forward to my stay! |

robbed-I don't think so.I'm not living at Budapest,but I can't imagine such thing.BUT!Some people think,foreigners in general have more money,than average Hungarian citizens.Therefore,you have to check the prices carefully before you buy something.They might be selling it to you for more money.If you have Hungarian acquaintances,ask for their help in such cases. |

Save bars are in the centrum of pest or buda. but hungary is not so bad as everybody think. you can get robbed everywhere on this planet. |

stay in the main tourist areas - plenty of bars etc
are you alone - if so try not to make it too obvious that you are
book any planeed transport ( taxis etc) through your hotel
i went with my daughter a couple of years ago and we did not have any trouble at all
however one of the other VTers and her daughter who were there at the same time reported someone trying to nick the daughters backpack
don't make yourself an obvious target - don't flash the cash - or the goodies ( of any kind)
watch the girls as thay can sometimes be part of the scams ( honeytrap kind of things)
most people are ok - but theres good and bad everywhere
just be aware of your surroundings etc
and enjoy Budapest!

Hey,i got ur email on myspace:) Well i live in Hungary,Budapest.So there are many places to go in the night,it depends on what kind of music you enjoy.If you like r&b music you should go to Tabu ( it`s in Mammut mall)Mediterran club,disco music is in Dokk Club,Buddha Beach,Kaméleon Club.Well if u need any more questions write me on myspace,iam going back to hungary next week.Maybe we can meet and i show u some places :)

Hello!
I can tell You that I've benn living in Budapest for a year but nothing were stolen from me...I also think that tourist didn't actually being robbed but they had to pay more than they should have. But of course take care of your things. I can offer the smaller clubs which aren't so exclusive but very good in my oppinion such as Filter or Morrisons2 etc. And little pubs also have an own feeling...:P And if You go out with more friends it is naturally much safer than alone. In Budapest there are a lot of nice places, such as the Parlament, Halászbástya etc but I'm sure You can find a lot about Budapest on the net. And if You visit not just Budapest I can offer Sopron, Lake Balaton (for example Tihany), Hévíz, Pécs, Szeged, Kecskemét etc they are also very beautiful cities. I hope You will have nice time in Hungary! |
