I heard Turkey is a good place for shopping and that I can get really nice and cheap clothes there, could someone suggest what is the best district of Istanbul where I can do that? My trip to Istanbul is set up for September 20th. I would also like to know where can I get the best traditional food without it being too expensive.

I can suggest you to go to historical places .. because I'm fond of history but if you are looking for different things like night life I can't help you in this case..because I'm not interested in... the real istanbul that means inside of the Walls has lots of thing to go.. I'm sure you heard sultanahmet(blue mosque) and ayasofya(hagia sofia)..also topkapı palace and gülhane are great places ..watching the Golden Horn from the top of the hill is taking you to different worlds different dreams..there is a placed named eyüp has a historical hill too.. Pierre Lotti hill has a great view..If you want to feel istanbul under your feet you should go to galata tower..
these places are close each others.. maybe eyüp is a bit far compared them ..you can have a fun in a little time ..
I'm proud of traditional food of my country .. All of them has good tastes..Sultanahmet köftecisi .. don't go back before go there.. but there is a little problem about it.. lots of place has similar name.. if you ask someone she or he will help you..
I think you should try most of foods that have strange names..name of our foods are both interesting and funny..and don't forget to eat kebap.. it's magical thing..
I can't help you so good I know but ı can say these for now.. when you go you will realise and live in mystical world.. Im not there because my education..i missed there so much you will miss there too when yo arrive your home..and taksim.. where is cheap where is funny where is smart is everywhere there.. that place is a little world .. lots of people all over the world..
there is no being bored ..there are always diferent excitements ,different lifes every street of that city .. |

Hi,first of all welcome to Turkey and Istanbul from now.You should feel like one of the lucky people who had the chance to visit Istanbul.
There are many historical places you know.You should visit at least the most famous ones.Blue Mosque(Sultanahmet Camii),High Sophia(Ayasofya),Suleymaniye Mosque(The Magnificent),Beyazit Mosque,Yavuz Selim Mosque(if it isn't being restored),Fatih Mosque,Ortaköy Mosque,Dolmabahce Mosque(Bezmialem Valide Sultan Mosque),Eyup Sultan Mosque are some of the most famous ones.There is a new and modern mosque that is Şakirin Mosque (by
Husrev Tayla).
You should visit palaces also.Beylerbeyi Palace is a wonderful palace and was built for summer usage.Topkapi Palace and Dolmabahce Palace are the most important and wonderful ones.
Galata Tower,Maiden's Tower are other places you have to see.I can only remember these places,if i remember other ones,i ll write u again.
Bebek coast,Emirgan Korusu(it is a wide park like a small forest),Anadolu Kavagi,Kapali Carsi,Pierre Lotti are other places u should visit.
I cannot forget TaksimIstiklal caddesi .you should see. it is like a small istanbul.There are people from everywhere in the world.
If you are looking for cheap places i have to know what do u want to buy.is it clothes or souvenir?if u buy souvenir keep away from the district s of historical places u know they can be expensive but i dont know where u can buy souvenir except these distincts.
Enjoy Istanbul.I'm sure u will never forget and want to visit again and again .You also get information from facebook istanbul fan page and u can find there people who have visited istanbul and want to share their experiences.
